The Maize Project

The Maize Project was an answer to expanding agriculture opportunities and to the high cost of feeding pigs in the Pig Project. The first season of this program provided maize seed to women who would grow it and use the harvest to feed their own family, pigs, and sell to TWOPU. The high production allows TWOPU to have enough maize locally to feed pigs in The Pig Project. The first and second harvest of this program was a huge success! This program now runs on a modified basis but still provides a major opportunity to women and their families to grow maize, earn additional income, and provides TWOPU with enough maize for their pigs.

The Pig Project

The Pig Project is one of our largest and most successful programs to date! In 2020, our first round of this program provided 250 female pigs to women, who would breed their pigs with our boars. From their first litter, women would give one to someone outside of TWOPU as a way to love their neighbors, the second would be given to TWOPU as a tithe, and the rest of their litter could be sold, eaten, or mated again. TWOPU regularly purchases pigs from women and sells meat to local markets and our own grill. As of 2024, the program has produced over 5,600 pigs and over 294 women currently continue to raise pigs as a part of this program.

TWOPU Grill

TWOPU's Pig Project produces a LOT of pork that is sold in Pader and throughout the region. The place pork is sold is at TWOPU Grill, The Women of Pader Uganda's very own restaurant in the heart of Pader town. The grill not only sells delicious food and a relaxed environment for the community to enjoy, it also has a butcher shop where people can buy pork to cook themselves. We pride ourselves on having the freshest, healthiest, and most delicious pork in Pader!

The Farm

Near the Pader airstrip is a farm that was gifted to TWOPU by another organization back in 2019. We use land at the farm and our own campus, we grow maize for The Maize Project.
