ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN PADER
Northern Uganda, especially Acholiland, faces some of the country’s deepest poverty, with limited opportunities for growth. Pader, part of this region, is isolated and struggles to overcome barriers to development. Through our Economic Development programs, TWOPU is committed to breaking this cycle. We create pathways for sustainable economic opportunities, empowering individuals and families to build better futures. Below, you can learn more about the impactful ways we’re helping Pader thrive and grow!
Business Trainings
TWOPU provides Business Trainings for women, their families, scholarship recipients, and the wider community. Led by TWOPU staff and local business leaders, these workshops teach valuable skills like business management, writing business plans, budgeting, and tracking sales. By equipping individuals with the tools to start and sustain businesses, we’re fostering financial independence and long-term community growth in Pader.

TWOPU "Microloan" Program
Women who complete TWOPU's Business Training and submit a business plan can apply for a microloan, reviewed by a committee of respected community leaders. These loans, offered at a low interest rate, empower women to start their businesses and contribute to Pader’s local economy. To date, we’ve provided over 120 microloans, helping women thrive and fostering sustainable economic growth in the region.
Financial Empowerment through Community & Education
At TWOPU, we believe lasting change starts with financial confidence. Through our savings groups, women support one another as they grow their businesses, save for the future, and navigate life’s challenges together. We also equip our staff—many in their first stable jobs—with budgeting and financial literacy skills to build strong financial foundations.

The Impact Center
The Impact Center provides a unique opportunity in Pader by employing women trained to perform remote data labeling and machine learning for freelance work. Currently, they are working full-time on a project for a company based in Austin, Texas. If you or someone you know is interested in collaborating with our Impact Team, please reach out to us at admin@thewomenofpaderuganda.org.
TWOPU Agriculture Programs
Our agriculture programs offer valuable financial opportunities to the Pader community and women in particular. These initiatives empower participants by providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in agriculture-based income generation.
