The Mercy Program is the most resource-intensive initiative at The Women of Pader Uganda, designed to meet the urgent physical needs of Pader’s most vulnerable families. It supports individuals facing life-threatening hunger, illness, or injury by providing tailored assistance like food, medical care, and other essential resources. While some cases require long-term support, others stabilize and successfully transition out of the program. Each story represents a life sustained—and often, transformed—through personalized, compassionate care!

The Mercy Program

Malaria Prevention, Testing & Treatment

Malaria is the leading cause of death in Uganda, with 478 cases per 1,000 people — the highest rate in the world. But with just $10, a life can be saved through testing and treatment. Through our Malaria Fund, The Women of Pader Uganda ensures that no one is turned away from care. We also provide treated mosquito nets to protect families before malaria strikes. Your support directly equips our community with the tools to fight — and survive — this deadly disease.

Food & Groceries

No one should go hungry. Through our partnership with Feed My Starving Children, The Women of Pader Uganda provides nutritious meals to students at Pader Community Church’s school and to vulnerable Mercy families. For those not receiving meal packs, we supply groceries to ensure every family is fed. Additionally, our Maize Program—an initiative that invests in family and local agriculture—offers sustainable food support. Your donations help us turn compassion into action, filling plates and restoring hope for families facing food insecurity.

Medicine & Treatment

In Uganda, access to healthcare is one of the nation’s most urgent challenges. In 2021, 74% of Ugandans reported going without needed medicine or care—and nearly half of those who sought public treatment faced corruption or bribes. Through our Mercy Program, The Women of Pader Uganda provides life-saving medicine and treatment to those who would otherwise go without.

Mental Health Services

Mental health services remain scarce in Northern Uganda. At The Women of Pader Uganda, two on-staff counselors offer free support to both our team and individuals in the Mercy Program. In addition to one-on-one counseling, they lead group therapy sessions and host mental health conferences throughout the Pader region. They also collaborate with our social workers to raise awareness about alcoholism—a widespread issue in Uganda—through a local radio program that reaches the broader community.

Life-Savings Procedures & Surgeries

In critical cases, The Women of Pader Uganda provides financial support for life-saving medical procedures and surgeries. We collaborate with hospitals across Uganda to ensure patients receive the highest quality care tailored to their needs.
